The first phase of the stallion selection takes place from April 1, to November 15, 2021. In order to participate in that first phase, an appointment must be made before October 15, 2021, with the secretariat of the Department of Surgery and Anesthesia of domestic animals, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the Ghent University (during the office hours, tel. 09/264 76 18). For appointments made after October, 2021, a supplement of 150 euro (VAT excl.) per stallion will have to be paid. Exceptions will be made for stallions for which it can be proved that, due to their participation in a selection (in a by BWP recognized studbook), they have been acquired after that date.
Annulments
Any annulment for the medical examination must be communicated by email , at least 3 working days in advance, to the secretariat of the hospital, to heidi.staelens@ugent.be. The same procedure has to be followed if e.g. 2 instead of 3 stallions will be presented for examination. For examinations which have not been annulled by email at least 3 working days in advance, a supplement of 150 euro (VAT excl.) per stallion will have to be paid.
Requirements
In order to guarantee a smooth running of the examinations, the stallions must be presented unshod. They have to be microchipped and be accompanied by their passport (or a copy of it) for the identity check.
Enroll for the Second Phase
When a stallion gets a positive advice, he can participate in the second phase. By November 15, 2021, the enrollments for the Stallion Selection must arrive at the BWP secretariat.
