After five years, the BWP Elite Foal Auction has already established a firm place and reputation on the auction calendar. We can safely call this a unique auction, as the quality of the foals brought together is exceptionally high. Only foals from BWP performance lines, BWP Elite mares, and proven sport mares are eligible for the auction.
Earlier this year, we actually saw three of the previously sold foals at the BWP Stallion Inspection: Ashton van de Smeets - Akiro Van Het Hippo-Lux - Wonderboy Blue V/D Meersarena. All three stallions were approved. A nice reference for our auction.
Kurt Asselberghs and Boudewijn Schepers will soon be traveling across the country to make a selection for the Elite Foal Auction. “The studbook papers and the genetic background of the foals are important, but that’s not the only thing we look at,” Kurt begins. “We’re looking for foals with correct conformation and athletic build, with good movement mechanics, in which we see potential for a sport career. That has to be the ultimate goal. If you can combine that with a top pedigree, then you can offer true BWP top quality to potential buyers. That’s what we as the BWP want to stand for!” he adds.
The BWP Elite Foal Auction will take place on July 25 at Ster Hippique in Sint-Niklaas. It is a hybrid auction (live + online). Please note that only a limited number of foals will be admitted! You can register for this auction via our website until June 12. Click here for all the details.
In addition to this elite auction, the BWP Online Foal Auction will be held on October 5 and 6. This auction is open to BWP foals in the jumping and dressage categories, as well as BRp foals and Connemara foals. To be selected for this auction, BWP and BRp foals must participate in one of our Breeders’ Days and achieve a minimum score of 75%. You can find the selection dates here.
